Full-Time Nanny/Family Assistant - Carmel Valley, San Diego
Sweet family in Carmel Valley is looking for an experienced, educated, career nanny/family assistant to work alongside Mom in caring for their 2 kids and keeping the household running smoothly. Mom is a stay at home mom, Dad works from home and is typically occupied in his home office other than popping out for meals. Their 2 adorable boys are 3.5 years old and 3 months old. Their ideal nanny is outgoing, proactive, a great communicator, and loves to cook! They want to have a close working relationship with their nanny and value open communication and honesty. The role of the nanny/family assistant will alternate between childcare and household responsibilities throughout the day as you work as a team with Mom. The 3.5 year old has several food allergies, so experience working with kids with allergies is a plus. They like to keep an organized and tidy household.
A little about their parenting philosophy: We want our kids to be as confident, happy, thoughtful, self-sufficient, and inquisitive as possible. We try our best to slow down throughout the day and give the kids 100% of our attention and love as well as acknowledge what they have to say. However, we do encourage our kids to be patient in certain circumstances (like when two adults are talking, waiting in line, etc.).We let them help with small chores and encourage them to do things themselves, so they get the joy and satisfaction of accomplishment and learn to be motivated from within. We explain things as they are and trust that the children will understand complex concepts over time. We are very much into reading, learning and having new experiences.

Children:
Boy, 3.5 years - He is high energy, sweet, and imaginative. He loves trains and will make anything into a train. Loves to read and talks like a little adult. He has some food allergies and requires an epipen. He goes to preschool in the mornings from 9am - 12 or 1pm depending on the day.
Boy, 3 months - He was a preemie and is growing pretty rapidly now. Mom is pumping breastmilk so nanny will feed him bottled breastmilk. He has had some issues with reflux. They would be interested in some sleep training/getting him on more of a schedule.
Pets in the home:
1 small dog - Sweet and friendly corgi, nanny should be willing to let the dog out in the yard a couple times a day.
Responsibilities:
Childcare responsibilities: Since the older boy is in preschool the nanny will spend most of their time with the baby. All typical infant care duties such as feeding bottles, changing diapers, maintaining a feeding and sleeping schedule, etc. Creating a stimulating environment and doing developmentally appropriate activities such as tummy time and working on milestones as he grows. Mom will handle most drop offs and pick ups for the older boy, but might occasionally need the nanny to help with this (they are leaning towards providing a car for the nanny to drive, but also open to the nanny using their own car). When older boy returns from school he has lunch and then nap time, nanny and Mom will likely work together to care for both boys during this time. Mom is truly looking for a partner and wants to have a close working relationship with the nanny. They would like the nanny’s help to establish some more structure and routine.
Household responsibilities: As Mom is stay at home and likes to spend a lot of time with the kids, part of the nanny’s day will be dedicated to helping out the household. The biggest need is meal prep, the parents will provide recipes and instructions for the nanny to follow. With the older boy’s allergies they have to be very careful with his food. Nanny will not be responsible for childcare and household work at the same time, household work will be done while Mom has the kids. They would also like the 3.5 year old to be involved in some household chores and pick up after himself. Other tasks they would like help with are washing bottles, loading/unloading the dishwasher, generally keeping the home organized and tidy, children’s laundry, taking out trash when full, keeping an eye on inventory of items like diapers, wipes, toilet paper, etc. and communicating with parents when those items need replacing. Their ideal nanny will be proactive in noticing what needs to be done and taking care of it.
